The city in itself, is known for some of the most exquisite fine dining restaurants.
Hell, we boast of hosting one of India’s very rare commodities……………….
A Michelin Starred Restaurant.
However, I am someone who has these unusual cravings for certain foods at the most uncertain times!
And visiting a fine dining place each time I feel like it?
Well, my pocket wails every time I even think of it!
Thus, after a few years in the city, (two decades, to be specific :P) I have come across a few must visit places, for someone like me – penchant for unique food, but on a student’s budget.
Statutory Warning: Travel is not an excuse to avoid food 😛
Blame it on my undying love for cheese, or the soft white piece of cake this place offers, this is at the top of my list for reasons I mostly cannot define.
Head over to this place, all you cheesecake lovers, for a mouthful of calories you will definitely not mind running an extra kilometre for! 🙂
Benne Masala Dosa at Shri Sagar/Central Tiffin Room (CTR), Malleswaram.
So you have come to the heart of Bangalore and you plan on going back without a visit here?
World famous (in Bangalore :P) for some mouth watering “fermented golden crepes made from rice batter and black lentils, stuffed with mashed baby potatoes cooked with Indian spices and green chillies, with a generous dollop of butter on top!” 😛
And in plain simple English – A Masala Dosa! 😛
This is one spot where I can easily gulp down a couple and still ask for more!
Corn Churmurs and Veg momos at Chaipatty, Indiranagar.
All you south Bangalore folks, don’t feel left out! Here’s a place to just chill out with friends, good food and a warm ambience. Along with momos, the corn churmurs are my absolute favourite here! Make sure you order a couple of plates initially itself, as they tend to run out of this dish forever too soon!
Pasta with Red Sauce at Dessert-ed, near Mount Carmel College.
I am unabashedly Indian at heart, and unapologetically Desi with my tastes.
However I was pleasantly surprised at the spicy kick of pepper and the sour taste of tomato in the pasta served at this quaint little café, diagonally opposite to the Mount Carmel PU College.
A word to the wise…
Give their breads a miss, unfortunately it doesn’t compliment their pastas in the least bit.
Ferrero Rocher Dunk at Cream Stone, HSR Layout.
Ice cream blended with Ferrerro Rocher and hot fudge! All you chocolate lovers out there, time to feed your chocoholism!
Visit this place for a visual treat of folks “smashing ice cream” and some exciting new flavours, fruits, nuts and stuff other than chocolate as well 🙂
But then again, coming to think of it – do we get bounty points for visiting all these places? You bet!
It just makes the experience all the more sweeter! 🙂
