So, it is 1 am, and I am working…while there is nothing unusual about that, what I discovered on television, surely is!
Random television surfing forms a part of my nocturnal routine, helps in keeping me awake during all those long nightly hours that my job demands. And this show, definitely kept me intrigued to find out more. I am talking of the tele shopping shows that play during the night. Annoying and ridiculous. Do catch one of those some night and you shall realise what I am harping on and on about.
However, the reach it has to Tier II and Tier III cities is commendable and this got me interested into seeing what it was that drew customers to these ads.
Firstly, it is all about beautiful looking people. “Beauty is on the inside” is evidently just an old adage, and apparently, beauty nowadays lies in the eyes of the “beer” holder, no longer the beholder! :p
Secondly, there are some cleverly articulated “Before and After” stories.
Thirdly, the flashes of ‘Just Rs. 4999’. Mind you, it is “JUST” Rs. 4999, and not Rs. 5000!
Clever Marketing? Well yes, the results are astonishing.
As another impressive piece of marketing, the updated version of MeDine has come up with a new way for users to earn some extra points: The Snap Bill feature. Using the app itself, take a simple snap shot of the bill, and done! More points than before! I’m already getting points for visiting a restaurant. Now I have a chance to get more!
Well, marketing is all about making the customer, the Hero of the story and selling that story right!
